When you start dating it is important to be attracted to the other person physically. Once you start talking you might not feel an emotional connection, this could be a problem in the future. Physical compatibility is important in couples. Both males and females have expectations from their partners. But there is a huge different between lust and love. Something which is purely based upon physical lust might die away way faster then the emotional understanding. A combination of both these elements is pure bliss. Many couples complain they are great in bed, but have serious issues talking to each other. Relationships like these fade away way faster.
Having an emotional understanding with your partner further enhances the physical element. The more comfortable the two are emotionally, the better they would understand the other physically. Women feel the need to be emotionally involved is their first priority, for men this varies. This scenario changes with age. When younger the depth of understanding your partner emotionally can vary, you make mistakes that are later regretted. As time progresses one learns, the need to find companions means a lot more than physical attraction. In younger college years couples, find it difficult to be with someone they are not physically attracted to since that is priority number one.
When asking couples, mostly women, if they prefer love over lust, for women the emotional being is way more important than the physical self. For a man it depends – he values love, but also emphasizes on the need to be compatible physically.
The media is setting perceptions for couples of what is right and wrong and what should be and what should not be. The importance of “looks” is a lot more important than it was years ago. This leads to a problem, often couples feel that their physical image is effecting their relationship. Many a times couple break up over these issues. Of course lust is short-lived and loved is not, but the combination or a balance of emotional compatibility with physical compatibility makes a relationship divine.
